Environmental Sustainability

Certification Details

Innovant was founded with a mission to minimize our impact on the environment and to ensure our products are environmentally sustainable. Environmental stewardship is a primary component of Innovant's core philosophy; It has always been part of how we work, and how we think.

With years of LEED project experience our in house LEED APs, engineering, manufacturing and sales teams can help you determine an optimal design in accordance with LEED principles.

Innovant products are ideal for project teams seeking LEED certification as well as customers who prioritize environmentally sustainable furniture specification. All of our standard products already conform to a variety of eco-requirements and many items can be further configured to maximize LEED points.

Innovant’s products directly contribute to the following
LEED credits:

MR Credit 4.1, 4.2

Recycled Content

Steel (industry standard 25% post consumer recycled), aluminum (100% recyclable) and millwork components (Innovant standard MDF has a post consumer recycled content of 60 – 80%) are the primary building blocks of our desks. While calculations are made on a project-by-project basis, Innovant’s products typically have a recycled content of well over 20%. Our furniture is often specified to offset the lacking recycled content of other materials on a project.

MR Credit 5.1, 5.2

Regional Materials

Based in New York City, Innovant can help project teams within a 500 mile radius achieve this credit (including the Northeast corridor up to Toronto, east to Pittsburgh and south past Washington DC). For projects outside of this radius, Innovant has collaborated with local manufactures to increase percentage of materials manufactured and sourced regionally.

MR Credit 7

Certified Wood

Innovant continues to offer FSC certified substrates on all millwork components and wood veneers based on availability. With recent changes to LEED, Innovant is undertaking certification in FSC Chain of Custody (CoC). The Forest Stewardship Council is an internationally recognized certified wood program that promotes responsible forest management and accountable supply chains. This voluntary third party certification provides Innovant customers continued access to this credit.

MR Credit 6

Rapidly Renewable Materials

Materials such as bamboo veneer or wheatboard can be specified on millwork components and textiles such as 100% wool fabrics can be specified for tackable panels and upholstered cushions.
